ROXAS CITY, June 20 (PNA)–- Capiz’s 1st District Rep. Antonio del Rosario said it’s too late for the 16th Congress and the Senate to postpone the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections in October this year.
“The schedule of election every three years for barangay officials and SK is written in our Constitution, thus Congress, Senate and the President will have to amend it before its postponement.” Del Rosario said in a radio interview.
Del Rosario, one of the Liberal Party stalwarts and ally of Interior Sec. Mar Roxas, said there is a need to have long debates in Congress and the Senate before amending the constitution.
The 1st district solon also said that he is not in favor on the proposed abolition of SK, saying that not all of SK officials are useless and corrupt as what they said.
Del Rosario thanked his constituents for giving him another mandate as representative of the 1st district of Capiz during the recently concluded May 13, 2013 election. (Media ng Bayan)
