CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, June 21 (PNA) -- The Department of Labor and Employment (DOE) regional office here bared plans to bring the kasambahay desks to the barangay level.
Geraldine Panlilio, assistant regional of DOLE region 3, said the move aimed to further disseminate information on the Implementing Rules and Regulations of the Batas Kasambahay law.
This as Panlilio said that at present, DOLE-3 has set up eight kasambahay desks in the region where employers and househelpers can ask questions and queries on the IRR of the Batas Kasambahay law.
She said the kasambahay desks were in DOLE provincial offices in the region's seven provinces and at their regional office in this city.
With the kasambahay desks at the barangay, "By then, the barangay officials will be the one to answer queries by the employer and the employee," she said.
Likewise, Panlilio said the barangay officials have vital roles in the implementation of this law.
She said the barangay officials shall read and explain the contents of the kasambahay contract and shall act as witnesses upon the request of either the employer or employee.
She said the barangay official shall also be responsible for the registry of the kasambahay in their area of jurisdiction.
She said the barangay officials will also aid in intensifying the information drive about the law.
"These are among the responsibilities of the barangay officials in the implementation of the Kasambahay law.'
The DOLE official also said that they already tied-up with the local government units (LGUs) for the conduct of town hall consultations and the registration of the kasambahay. (Media ng Bayan)
